Of course, left to the Sheeple, you would be living like the North Koreans. These journalists, led around by NK minders, only saw the more upscale permitted stuff in Pyongyang which was bad enough - http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4345619/Sun-men-trick-way-into-North-Korea.html

Was going to post much more depressing smuggled out photos on how the rest of the country lives, (sorry-ass housing, bicycles, and construction workers, no bulldozers or road graders, just coolies with picks and shovels), but the recent Disqus changes apparently don't allow attaching photos to comments anymore. A good read, "Escape from Camp 14'" where they *breed* slaves and work them cradle-to-grave with no knowledge whatsoever of the outside world, life expectancy 40-50, of nothing but starvation, cold, and misery.

In full disclosure, my previous employer was Raytheon. I happily jumped on that gravy train until their (well, Boeing's really) biggest boondoggle ever (Future Combat Systems) was cancelled by Congress and they laid off 20% of the employees at my location. Sadly, my gravy was too expensive and they let me go.

At any point during your tenure did you form the impression that we would all be living like North Koreans absent your efforts? Did many (any) of your colleagues, supervisors or anyone else with whom you were familiar at the worksite share the above arcane belief that you were protecting American sheeple from a sad and medieval state of existence?

Uh. No.

History Note: Prior to WW2, all of Korea, Phillipines, Solomons, Indonesia, and parts of China were colonies of the ever expanding Japanese Empire,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_of_Japan USA was a likely target domino down the road, beginning with Dec 7, 1941 Hawaii (US Possession at the time). The colonial folk were not well treated. Think "Rape of Nanking"...

WW2 ended all that WRT Japan. And when the commies moved into Korea,1950, yankees bailed out the South, for which South Koreans are still grateful today. Just two days ago, Korean diplomats were in the Seattle area honoring surviving veterans of the Korean War.http://www.kitsapsun.com/news/2012/jul/07/south-korean-diplomats-honor-kitsap-korean-war/

You can thank the B-17s, B-29s, Los Alamos---> Hanford--->Nuclear weapons and the CEOs that brought it all to fruition, for all that.

Help me out here mange..., What exactly am I sposed to be thanking these CEO's for? Cause last time I checked, I have no Korean ancestors and no Korean relatives by marriage.

As for the USA being a target domino of Japan..., seriously?!?!?!?!?!

Japan had been under economic assault by the U.S. and was finally forced to do something in order to end the U.S. petroleum embargo.

For stopping the threat of domiination before it reached the USA...

"...target domino..."
Do some reading, dude. The Japanese viewed themselves as absolutely invincible, and their expanding empire unstoppable.
James Bradley,"Flyboys", has a great section at the beginning on the pre-WW2 Japanese empire and their mistreatment of colonial folk...

They believed what they believed, and we saw what came of that. The lesson there is for us to watch our own arrogance and invincibility and bite-off-to-chew ratio, not to act like it's 1940.

It's 2012 now, and the point you raised was the threat posed by North Korea. Can you enlarge on what threat, exactly, the weak half of Korea poses to the USA?

3. CEOs? The Manhattan Project was just more big government. You'uns as soon privatize that shit as look at it, but in fact it was public sector all the way.
